When Ukrainians began to arrive in Rhode Island in the late Nineteenth Century, they formed church communities, church related organizations, and benevolent societies while earning their living in mills at such towns and cities as Woonsocket, Manville, Central Falls, Fall River, Providence, Pawtucket, and Little Compton. The early years were extremely difficult, but most of the immigrants settled and adapted to their new home in the United States. Today St. Michael's Parish is an active church serving the Providence and northern Rhode Island Communities. New Parishioners are welcome. A Special Thank You to Yevshan! The parish of St. Michael the Archangel was pleased to present the Yevshan Ukrainian Vocal Ensemble in a concert of Ukrainian Christmas and liturgical music on Sunday, December 18. This special event was enjoyed by over 100 people who gave the ensemble a rousing standing ovation after its performance. The afternoon of music was capped by Yevshan and the audience combining to sing Boh Predvichny. A lively reception followed the concert in the church hall.
